OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) is a promising
and strong emerging lighting technology. These thin
devices have a uniform light distribution over large
areas. With its unique features this new form of
lighting opens up a whole new world of lighting
designs. With a high internal quantum efficiency the
energy consumption is low and therefore beneficial
in reducing the world’s energy consumption.
MoserBaer Technologies is starting up OLED pilot
production in the USA. The OLED R&D program of OM&T | Moser Baer Technologies
is targeting a significant cost reduction of this
new type of solid-state lighting. Focal points are
the development of advanced light out-coupling
layers, transparent front electrodes, barrier
layers, and smart module integration processes. The
technologies will be integrated in white OLED
lighting panels, initially based on glass but
ultimately on (flexible) plastic substrates. Publications:
